In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Mossos d’Esquadra have apprehended four individuals aged between 29 and 37 in Darnius, Girona. The arrests followed the discovery of a large-scale marijuana cultivation operation consisting of 1,003 plants, alongside substantial quantities of processed cannabis.
The investigation commenced in mid-June when local law enforcement received tips regarding a potential illegal plantation in the area. Utilizing drone technology to survey the landscape, officers identified three hidden fields nestled within dense woodland, making access challenging.
On August 4th, police executed a strategic operation aimed at locating those responsible for the illicit grow. Upon their arrival, two suspects attempted to flee from makeshift tents but were quickly apprehended by law enforcement. Shortly thereafter, two additional suspects were captured as they emerged from separate tents nearby.
The raid yielded not only 1,003 marijuana plants but also 5,152 drying buds and approximately 46 kilograms of packaged cannabis ready for distribution. These findings underscore the scale of drug operations that continue to pose challenges for authorities in Catalonia.
