A man has been sentenced to 19 and a half years in prison for fatally stabbing another during a bar fight in Mollerussa. The incident involved multiple participants and resulted in significant injuries.
A violent altercation at the Beethoven bar in Mollerussa has culminated in a lengthy prison sentence for the man responsible for a fatal stabbing. The Lleida Court has sentenced him to 19 years and six months behind bars following a jury’s guilty verdict.
The incident, which occurred on November 23, 2022, involved two families with a history of animosity stemming from prior legal disputes. According to court documents, the confrontation escalated into chaos as members of one family attacked with knives while the other retaliated using various objects found within the bar.
The court’s ruling detailed how the main perpetrator inflicted two stab wounds on his victim, one of which severed a major artery, leading to massive blood loss and death. Additionally, he was found guilty of attempting to stab one of the victim’s brothers, who sustained serious injuries including a punctured lung.
In total, five other individuals were also convicted for their roles in this tumultuous event. Among them was the father of the primary defendant, sentenced to 13 years and six months for attempted homicide and participation in the brawl. Another brother received seven years and six months, while an uncle faced lesser charges resulting in six months imprisonment.
The court ordered substantial compensation amounting to €541,820 payable to the deceased’s family and injured siblings. This financial penalty underscores not only the severity of the crime but also its profound impact on those affected.
