Daniel Cortina expands his role at Seat and Cupra as head of Institutional Relations, while Alberto Ruano joins Telefónica and Enric Font rises to vice president of Tecniberia.
The car manufacturer Seat and its sports brand Cupra have appointed Daniel Cortina as the new head of Institutional Relations. Cortina, who was already serving as secretary general and director of strategy at the company, now takes on an expanded role that will see him coordinate key issues for the future of both brands.
An Industrial and Mechanical Engineer from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, with an MBA from Esade, Cortina will focus on areas such as electrification, competitiveness, and the European regulatory framework, as Crónica Global has learned. The company based in Martorell thus retains a key figure in its management structure to tackle the challenges of the sector.
In parallel, Alberto Ruano joins Telefónica to lead the new hardware and devices division, a unit created to consolidate all terminal and equipment business. Ruano will be part of the Management Committee of the operator and will report directly to Óscar Candiles, head of the revenue department.
With over 25 years of experience in the technology sector, Ruano has primarily developed his career at Toshiba España, where he was managing director for seven years, and at Lenovo, where he held the position of general director for Spain and Portugal before his recruitment by the group led by Marc Murtra.
The communication and public affairs consultancy &Comunicas has also made a move with the appointment of Carmen Pérez as director of the International Strategy unit. The journalist, with over three decades of experience in international reporting, has covered armed conflicts, elections, and summits of major organizations. Additionally, she directed the international information department of the Secretaría de Estado de Comunicación for seven years and participated in organizing events such as the NATO summit in Madrid or the COP 25.
In the corporate sphere, Leonor Altamira has been appointed director of 'people & culture' at Cellnex Telecom, as part of the reorganization process of the corporate affairs area that includes the division of communication and public affairs. Altamira will ultimately report to the secretary of the board and director of corporate affairs, Xavier Pujol.
The engineering sector has also renewed its leadership. Enric Font, market leader in Spain and Latin America for Grupo Quadrante, has been elected vice president of Tecniberia, the association that groups engineering, consulting, and technology service companies. A civil engineer by training from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and with executive training from IESE and Esade, Font has over a decade of experience as an executive at Applus and led the development of Meta Engineering. He was already part of the Tecniberia board in the industry and energy area.
Finally, Mirenchu del Valle, current president of the insurance employers' association Unespa, will preside over the Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies (Fides) starting from 1 January. Del Valle, a law graduate, will succeed the Chilean Jorge Claude in this role and will combine this responsibility with the vice presidency of CEOE.
