President Salvador Illa assures that the Mossos d'Esquadra are prepared to curb the disturbances planned for this Halloween night. The police have raised the risk level of the planned gatherings to maximum.
In response to the calls from the Blocus movement to provoke vandalism and looting in shops during Halloween, the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has stated that the Mossos d'Esquadra are ready to prevent possible disturbances. He made this statement in a message posted on X.
Anyone who comes to loot will answer to justice, as those arrested on the 24th are already doing. And no one is guilty because of their origin.
The Mossos have detected a dozen Blocus calls in Catalonia, three of which are in Barcelona. This time they coincide with Halloween and the castañada, which Illa has reminded is a celebration for everyone and takes place in the streets.
The disturbances on October 24th resulted in a balance of half a thousand young people who caused fires and looted shops, with 130 arrests. To prevent a similar scene from repeating on Saturday, the Department of Interior and the City Council of Barcelona have urged families to keep an eye on their children, to know their weekend plans, and to prevent them from participating in disturbances.
The police have assigned a level 4 risk rating to the gatherings planned for today, the highest. According to the text of the call, the preventive measures taken last week should deter potential participants in future disturbances driven by social media.
Security forces have arrested ten young people in various parts of Spain for encouraging looting. In Catalonia, the Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested three people, a minor of 17 years and two young people of 18 years, for spreading and encouraging the disturbances.
