A man violently burst into a café on Avenida del Paral·lel and attempted to take the coffees and croissants from customers. The Mossos subdued him and arrested him for violent theft.
Customers at a café on the Avenida del Paral·lel in Barcelona experienced quite an eventful breakfast this Wednesday, 30th September. A man entered the establishment violently at around quarter to eight in the morning and tried to take the coffees, toasts, and croissants that patrons were consuming.
The individual did not hesitate to confront the customers, who were quite startled by his aggression. The bar staff immediately called 112, which dispatched patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra and ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) as a precaution.
The alleged thief attempted to escape, and the officers had to subdue him on the ground. After a struggle, they managed to handcuff him and took him away in a patrol car. Sources from the Mossos have confirmed that the man, whose nationality has not been disclosed, is accused of theft with violence and intimidation.
None of the individuals present were injured, and it all ended up being a scare. The police intervention caught the attention of local residents in this area bordering the Sant Antoni and Poble-sec neighbourhoods, as well as passers-by on the avenue at that hour.
The arrested individual was placed at the disposal of the judiciary while awaiting questioning. The Mossos are continuing the investigation to fully clarify what happened.
