The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two 50-year-old men with criminal records as the alleged perpetrators of two violent robberies and intimidation at a pharmacy on Pasteur Street and a bakery in Carmel. One of the assaults left an employee with minor injuries.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have detained two 50-year-old men with police records as the alleged authors of two violent robberies and intimidation committed in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona. Investigations by the Catalan police have clarified the assaults on a pharmacy and a bakery in the area.

The first robbery occurred on August 21, when two partially hooded men entered a pharmacy on Pasteur Street. One of them was armed with a bladed weapon and threatened the staff to take money from the cash register. An employee suffered minor injuries.

The second assault took place on September 15 at a bakery in Carmel. Two men stole the day's takings from the employees, and according to investigators, one of them was carrying a firearm, although it has not been confirmed whether it was real.

A key breakthrough came on September 17 during a preventive police check at the Carmel metro station. Civil Security officers identified a man whose characteristics matched one of the suspects sought by the Investigation Unit.

After confirming the match with the pharmacy robbery, he was immediately arrested. Subsequent inquiries linked both this individual and a second suspect to the bakery robbery.

Investigators located the second suspect at a residence in Horta-Guinardó, where they found clothing and footwear that matched the outfits used in the robberies. With judicial authorization, the second man was arrested on September 22 for his alleged involvement in both assaults.

The investigation remains open to determine the exact participation of each arrested individual, and further actions are not ruled out. These events occur in the context of a decline in crime in the Catalan capital: according to official figures, robberies in Barcelona fell by 1.9% between January and August compared to the same period last year, and by 16.4% compared to 2019.
