Support for the Spanish national team reached 70% of respondents in Catalonia. Only 7% preferred the team's defeat.

According to eldebate.com, the Centre for Opinion Studies (CEO) of Catalonia published the results of a survey on Wednesday, October 14, which, in addition to measuring voting intentions, asked Catalans about the 2026 World Cup. The survey shows that the Spanish national team had the backing of the majority, even among those who identify as independentists.

Specifically, 43% of respondents clearly wanted the team to win, and another 27% preferred it, albeit without special enthusiasm. This adds up to 70% support, a striking figure considering that 43% of those surveyed define themselves as independentists.

On the opposite side, 17% said they were indifferent, and 6% did not follow the matches. Only 7% admitted they preferred the defeat of the team led by Luis de la Fuente, and from that group, 2% specified that their stance depended on the opponent or the match.

The study also cross-references the responses with the club of each respondent. Among Barça fans, support was 69%, among Espanyol fans it reached 83%, and among Madridistas, it was 89%. Supporters of other teams stood at 71%, and those who do not follow any club at 60%.

Finally, the survey indicates that only 20% of respondents did not watch any matches of the tournament. Conversely, the largest group consisted of fans who followed 10 or more matches, making up 22% of the total.
