The series "Music from Within" brings together five sessions on how a symphonic concert is made. Three are held in municipal libraries and one at the Museu de la Música, while the last is an open rehearsal at the Auditori.
Five sessions, three of them in municipal libraries, to understand what goes on behind a symphonic concert. The journey starts with composition and goes through interpretation, rehearsals, and artistic programming, until reaching the practice in a hall.
The first appointment is on Wednesday 28 October, at 18:30, at the El Clot - Josep Benet library. The talk “The Enigma of the Score” will be given by Begoña Pérez, head of Musical Documentation at the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC).
On Wednesday 4 November, at 18:30, the La Vila Olímpica - Xavier Benguerel library will host the session on how the orchestra operates. María Marí, technical director of the OBC, and three musicians from the ensemble will speak: Anca Ratiu (violin), Christoph Rahn (double bass), and Ignasi Vila (percussion).
On a Tuesday in November, also at 18:30, the Museu de la Música will receive the talk “The Largest Instrument in the World: the Orchestra,” led by Eulàlia Vilardell, head of educational activities at the museum. The session on Strauss’s Domestic Symphony arrives on Wednesday 18 November, at 18:30, at the El Fort Pienc - Ana María Moix library, presented by Teresa Torres, music communicator.
The final session is different: a general rehearsal on Friday 20 November, at 09:30, at the Auditori de Barcelona. It will be conducted by the OBC and José Sanchís from the Educational Service of the Auditori, and is the only one that requires prior registration, which opens on 28 October from 16:00.
The rest of the sessions are free to enter, although places are limited. Those who want to follow the series on social media can do so with the hashtag #MúsicaDesDeDins.
