Maximum temperatures drop below 30ºC in most regions after a Friday of up to 37ºC in Terres de l'Ebre. On Sunday, the coast will become overcast and a new storm with rain will arrive on Monday.
The mercury begins to fall in Catalonia. After a Friday of summer-like heat, with up to 37ºC in parts of Terres de l'Ebre and more than 30ºC on the central coast, this Saturday brings a widespread decrease in maximum temperatures, which will remain below 30ºC in most of the territory, according to the forecast from Aemet reported by elperiodico.com.
The sky will be clear in most regions at dawn, with some clouds in the pre-coastal area that will increase from the afternoon. No rain is expected anywhere in the community. Minimum temperatures will drop slightly, although they will remain high in the southern coast and in Terres de l'Ebre.
The wind will blow lightly during the early morning and will gain intensity in the morning, with strong gusts in the Pyrenees and the southern pre-coastal area. Meteocat has not issued any warnings for this Saturday.
On Sunday, the weather will change. The sky will remain cloudy all day on the coast and the pre-coastal area, and rain is not ruled out on the coast of Girona and Tarragona. In the afternoon, light showers and storms may also occur in the western Pyrenees. The wind will be moderate in Tarragona and in Ponent.
The situation will complicate from Monday. A new storm will arrive between Monday and Tuesday and will bring downpours to a large part of Catalonia, with the possibility of storms and hail. This weekend will therefore be the warmest before that shift.
The heat episode of these days comes after an autumn start with temperatures up to 10ºC above normal in Spain, according to Aemet. For the coming months, the agency predicts a warmer and wetter autumn than usual: there is between a 60% and 70% chance that temperatures will exceed normal values and a 40% chance that rainfall will be above average in the northern and eastern parts of the peninsula.
Looking ahead to next week, it is advisable to pay attention to warnings from Meteocat, especially in the coastal regions and the Pyrenees, where the most intense precipitation will be concentrated.
