The Generalitat urges extreme caution in Safor and Marina Alta, where the forecast remains unstable. Emergencies has attended to 385 incidents since Saturday.

According to Valencia Plaza, the Minister of Emergencies, Juan Carlos Valderrama, asked citizens to exercise caution during the rainfall episode. The main concern is focused on Safor and Marina Alta, where the red alert for rain remains in effect until 10 hours this Monday along the southern Valencia coast and northern Alicante.

Since 13:52 hours on Saturday, Emergencies services have attended to 385 incidents. Of these, 286 are in the province of Alicante, 94 in Valencia, and five in Castellón. Many involve vehicles trapped by water, which had to be removed along with their occupants.

“Very attentive to how the situation evolves”

Valderrama warned that the forecast remains unstable and that storms may again hit areas already affected. The State Meteorological Agency does not rule out that the episodes may shift towards Albufera and the northern Valencia coast during the night, or remain over the sea.

In Marina Alta and Safor, rainfall has been intense in Moraira, Teulada, Puerto de Xàbia, Barx, Rótova, Palma de Gandia, and Gandia. In Barx, more than 340 litres per square metre have been recorded in 24 hours. There are also landslides on some roads, so those needing to travel should check the state of the routes beforehand.

The Beniopa ravine in Gandia is currently dry, but the Gandia City Council is warning local residents to stay alert. Additionally, a shelter has been set up at the Raval sports centre in case evacuation is necessary.

In Xàbia, the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium has evacuated the El Naranjal campsite. According to the mayor, Rosa Cardona, the shelter is located in the municipality's multipurpose hall, with over a hundred people being assisted by the Red Cross. On the ground, around 15 fire vehicles, 12 Civil Protection personnel, and the entire Local Police are working.

Valderrama also mentioned a woman who died on Sunday afternoon while swimming in the sea in Sagunto. According to the minister, she acted recklessly by entering the water during a maritime storm. In the event of any flooding, the advice is to move to upper floors and follow the instructions of 112.
