The linguistic entity based in Valencia has received 138,467 euros in public aid this year, of which 90% comes from Catalan administrations, according to the state subsidy register.
The Escola Valenciana Foundation has received a total of 138,467 euros in direct aid from public administrations so far in 2026. Of that amount, 125,000 euros, or 90%, comes from Catalan institutions, as reported by eldebate.com based on data from the National System of Advertising of Subsidies and Public Aid, under the Ministry of Finance.
The breakdown shows the Government of Illa as the main contributor: in April, it granted 110,000 euros "without consideration". This aid was later supplemented by the Diputación de Barcelona, which approved 15,000 euros in mid-summer through a "direct concession" without accompanying public documentation.
The other two recorded contributions are of smaller amounts and from Valencia: 4,200 euros from the City Council of Burjassot and 1,000 euros from the City Council of Mislata. All four mentioned administrations are governed by the PSOE.
The Diputación de Valencia also appears in the register with an aid of 4,267 euros, although in this case within a call for activities promoting equality between women and men and against gender violence, with no link to the linguistic field.
The entity is based in a ground floor in the Benicalap neighbourhood of Valencia, and its website displays the logos of its three main funders: Generalitat de Cataluña, Diputación de Barcelona, and Ministry of Culture.
"Without consideration"
This last administration, the state one, has yet to make its contribution for this fiscal year. If the schedule of previous years is repeated, a direct subsidy of over 100,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture will be registered in September.
The foundation's history also includes its role in organising the 'Trobades pel valencià', a network of educational events held in schools across the Valencia Community. This summer, the association also promoted a campaign to denounce shops in Valencia that serve customers in Spanish, after a customer demanded to be served in Valencian by a foreign worker.
For residents of the province of Catalonia, the relevant fact is the origin of the funds: Catalan administrations allocate public money to an entity based in Valencia that operates within the Valencian educational system. The Treasury register allows for consultation of each of these grants and their amounts.
