The president of the Generalitat and leader of the Valencian PP assures that his relationship with Vicent Mompó is "very cordial" and avoids commenting on whether he will support him as a candidate. He also reviews his relationship with Mazón, Catalá, and Morant.
The president of the Generalitat and leader of the Valencian PP, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, has stated that his relationship with the president of the Valencia Provincial Council, Vicent Mompó, is "very cordial" and that they speak "quite often". He expressed this in an interview with lasprovincias.es, where he reviewed his political situation and his ties with other leaders.
Pérez Llorca avoided commenting on whether he is bothered that Mompó has not publicly supported him as the best candidate for the Generalitat. "I do not want to engage in that kind of question, which is a bit tendentious when it comes to sowing doubts within my party," he said.
"You will never see me make a public comment against a fellow party member. Furthermore, they are talking about Vicent Mompó, with whom I have a very cordial relationship and with whom I usually talk, because that is what a party president should do with a provincial president"
The leader of the Valencian PP also recalled his role in the agreement that brought Mompó to the presidency of the Valencia Provincial Council. "I was, allow me to say this modestly, the key person for him to become president of the Provincial Council. I worked on that agreement," he emphasized.
Regarding the management of the closure of the Teatro Principal in Valencia, Pérez Llorca explained that Mompó called him the day before to inform him of a technical report that warned of risks to people's safety. "If I had known that report earlier, we would not have made the presentation of the programme," he acknowledged. In 24 hours, he highlighted, all cultural performances were distributed across various locations.
When asked about his relationship with the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, he responded that it is "also very cordial, very correct". "I will seem boring, but that is the truth," he added.
As for the former president of the Generalitat Carlos Mazón, Pérez Llorca admitted that he speaks "much less than before". "The other day I saw him in Les Corts and greeted him, but I also have a cordial relationship with him," he commented. Regarding the possibility of including him in the regional lists, he noted that they will first discuss the candidacies for the national elections and that there are still months to decide on the regional elections.
Concerning the leader of the Valencian PSOE, Diana Morant, he described their relationship as "cordial" and "politically very correct". He clarified that she has never requested a meeting with him: "She has never asked for a meeting with the president of the Generalitat. I always open myself to receiving everyone".
The head of the Consell also mentioned his contacts with other party leaders. He spoke with Esteban González Pons last week to seek advice on a European issue. With Paco Camps, he said, he has not spoken for a long time, although he maintains "a lot of respect" for him and still calls him "president".
