The municipal group of the Popular Party in Barcelona will demand urgent measures from the government of Jaume Collboni due to the closure of Collserola. Since March 2026, access to the natural environment of the park has been closed.

The municipal group of the Popular Party will present a request to the Urban Planning commission for the government of Jaume Collboni to find solutions to the closure of Collserola. The initiative will be defended by the spokesperson, Daniel Sirera, on Tuesday, October 20.

The restrictions due to the outbreak of African swine fever began in late November 2025. As Sirera recalls, since March 2026, access to the natural environment of the entire park has been closed, preventing thousands of Barcelonians from walking, running, or cycling in the area.

The PP is asking the City Council, along with the Generalitat and the Consorci del Parc Natural de Collserola, to establish safe alternative routes for sports and leisure activities. They are also calling for a gradual relaxation of access in areas where it is possible.

“We have been months with thousands of Barcelonians who cannot go out to walk, run, cycle, or enjoy Collserola as they used to.”

The impact is not limited to park users. Restaurants in the area have seen a decrease in visitor numbers for months, and Sirera warns that they continue to pay rents, taxes, utilities, and salaries.

“If the administrations limit their activity to protect public health, they must also provide solutions to prevent them from closing down.”

That is why the PP will request that the municipal government assess the economic impact of the restrictions and immediately activate an extraordinary aid line for the affected restaurants. The request will be debated in the session of the Urban Planning commission next Tuesday.
