Catalonia was the destination with the most bookings among the five main beach communities, with a share of 25.6% and a growth of 22.5% compared to the previous summer, according to a report by Travelgate.
The summer of 2026 has left a positive balance for beach hotels, but with notable differences between destinations. Catalonia has established itself as the leading destination by booking volume among the five communities analysed, with a share of 25.6% compared to 24.1% the previous year, according to the report prepared by Travelgate, as noted by Hosteltur.
The growth in Catalonia was the highest in relative terms, with 22.5% more bookings than in 2025. The average daily rate (ADR) stood at 201.41 euros, and travellers stayed an average of 4.14 days.
The Valencian Community also recorded good performance, with a 20% increase in bookings and a share that rose from 13.9% to 14.5%. Its ADR reached 221.98 euros and the average stay was 4.72 days.
In the Balearic Islands, the share remained stable at 21.8%, but the volume of bookings grew by 15.7%. The islands achieved the highest ADR in the country, at 262 euros, with an average stay of 5.06 days.
Canary Islands represented 16.2% of bookings, with a year-on-year increase of 14%. Its ADR was 180.17 euros and it stood out for the longest stay, at 6.1 days.
Andalusia, for its part, accounted for 22% of bookings, down from 23.9% in 2025, with a growth of 6.4%. Its ADR was 249.14 euros, the second highest after the Balearic Islands, and the average stay was 4.23 days.
The report also reflects a change in the origin of tourists. The domestic market lost ground: bookings from Spaniards fell by 3.7%, although Spain remained the main issuing market for Spanish hotels on the b2b booking platform of Travelgate.
International markets, on the other hand, experienced strong increases. The United Kingdom maintained the second position with a growth of 47.8%. Germany surged by 45.7%, and France occupied the fifth position with an increase of 30.7%. Portugal also grew by 19.9%.
These data correspond exclusively to the five beach communities analysed (Catalonia, Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, and Valencian Community), so the percentage shares refer to the volume captured among these destinations and not to the total national market.
For the Catalan hotel sector, summer 2026 closes with a significant increase in demand and an average rate exceeding 200 euros per night. The complete information from the Travelgate report is available for industry professionals.
