There are scandals that ruin careers, destroy marriages, and turn their protagonists into trending topics for weeks for the worst reasons. And then there is the case of Santi Millán, who in June 2022 starred in one of the most viral moments in Spanish television and emerged not only unscathed but almost strengthened. Because if there is one thing that defines the Catalan presenter, it is his almost superhuman ability to turn any crisis into a moment of humour without losing dignity along the way.
The intimate video that was leaked without his consent showed him engaging in relations with a woman who was not his partner. Within hours, the clip spread across all the phones in Spain. What no one expected was the reaction of the people closest to him: his wife, Rosa Olucha, and their two children, Marc and Ruth.
The call that Santi Millán did not expect to receive
When the video started circulating, Millán was out of the house. And the first person to alert him was, precisely, his wife. That's how well some couples work. “I am not a victim and there are no sides or properties here”, she wrote, in a phrase that became one of the most shared of that week. And rightly so.
The children reacted with a maturity that surprised Santi himself
If Rosa Olucha's reaction was striking, her children's was no less so. Marc, the eldest, was already of legal age when everything happened. Ruth, the youngest, was a teenager. Both faced the situation with a maturity that Millán himself publicly acknowledged with pride.
“My children acted super maturely”, he declared, adding that this behaviour says a lot about how they have been raised and the atmosphere at home. This is no small detail. At a moment when any teenager could have crumbled or felt embarrassed in front of their classmates, Santi Millán's children chose support and understanding.
The real problem: the leak is a crime, not a scandal
Beyond the humour with which Millán has managed the matter, there is a serious part that he has made sure to underline every time he has had the chance. The leaking of an intimate video without consent is not a scandal: it is a crime. And that distinction matters.
From the beginning, the presenter was clear: the news was not the content of the video, but that someone had illegally disseminated it. The case went to court, although judicial progress was complicated by the lack of cooperation from the platform where it was originally published. According to Millán himself, since Elon Musk acquired Twitter and rebranded it as X, the social network has stopped responding even to judicial requests. A situation that perfectly illustrates the legal loopholes that still exist in Spain and Europe to pursue this type of digital crime.

What could have been the end of a career ended up being, paradoxically, another demonstration of why Santi Millán remains one of the most beloved faces on Spanish television. His ability to put things in perspective, laugh at himself, and speak transparently about uncomfortable topics is exactly what many viewers appreciate about him.
The presenter of Got Talent and veteran of series like 7 vidas has been on screen for over two decades without losing that profile of a down-to-earth, good-hearted rogue who doesn’t take himself too seriously. The episode of the video, far from eroding him, ended up being consistent with that image.
And his family, which never publicly crumbled, is probably his best calling card.
