The Mossos have received around 60 complaints from people scammed with Oques Grasses tickets. The police suspect the actual number is much higher.

About 60 people have reported to the Mossos d'Esquadra that they bought fake tickets for the Oques Grasses concerts held in early October at the Estadio Olímpico in Barcelona. Most of the complainants are young.

The Virtual Police Region of the Mossos believes that the number of affected individuals could be much higher, as many victims have not reported due to shame. This is explained by their chief, Roger Sales.

“These figures do not reflect the reality of the phenomenon or its magnitude.”

In response to the complaints, the Central Cyber Fraud Unit, which is part of the Virtual Police Region, has opened an investigation to clarify the facts and identify the perpetrators.

According to the police, the scammers operated through two channels. The first was social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or X, where they offered non-existent tickets. In these cases, payment was mainly made via Bizum, as the transaction was more direct between the victim and the scammer.

The second channel was a fake platform with a name similar to a legitimate ticket sales website for concerts, sporting events, and theatre. There, victims paid by bank transfer or provided banking details outside the official channel, without its protection.

A reported case in the Canary Islands illustrates how the method worked. Anna Maranges, aged 28, born in Vielha and residing in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, put two tickets for the concert on October 5 up for sale, the day she could not attend. The buyer hacked her account and extracted 1,500 euros.

The Mossos believe the perpetrators could be individuals acting independently or small organised groups. So far, the police have not quantified the total money scammed. Anyone who has suffered a scam of this type can file a complaint with the Mossos d'Esquadra, who are keeping the investigation open.
