Three Israeli companies, two of which have founders who served in the army, are among the main sponsors of the congress organised by the Generalitat in November.

The event is organised by the Generalitat and Fira de Barcelona, a consortium that includes the Barcelona City Council and the Chamber of Commerce. According to elDiario.es, among the funders are companies linked to former Israeli military personnel.

The seventh edition will take place from 3 to 5 November and the congress presents itself as:

“the main cybersecurity event in Southern Europe”

About a dozen Israeli companies will participate as sponsors or exhibitors. Some have ties to the military industry in Tel Aviv or have supported the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu's government in Palestine.

One of the main funders is CheckMarx, founded by Mat Siman, a former member of the Israel Defense Forces and former security advisor to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon from 2004 to 2006.

The congress is also sponsored by PaloAlto Networks, a company founded and led by Nir Zuk, a former student of the Israeli army's intelligence unit 8200. Although it is headquartered in California, it maintains a large research and development centre in Tel Aviv.

The third is SentinelOne, which in October 2023 suspended its sponsorship of a sector congress in the United States after a member linked to the organisation criticised Israeli operations in Gaza and labelled them as genocide.

None of the three have documented direct involvement in the Palestinian genocide. However, the Chinese government prohibits its companies from using SentinelOne's programs due to the risk of the company transmitting data to foreign agencies.

The firm also has a global intelligence team that publishes technical analyses on military and cyber tactics of rival nations.

Many of the Israeli companies participating are listed by pro-Palestinian activists who promote boycotts of Israeli companies or those linked to the country's defence industry.
