The deployment of the Pla Bastió in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat has reduced the total number of criminal incidents in the city by 16.24% between April and September 2026, according to data presented this Monday by the Minister of Interior and Public Security, Núria Parlon, and the mayor, David Quirós, following a meeting at the city hall.
The most significant drop is seen in thefts from vehicles, which have decreased by 43.2%. This is followed by violent thefts, which have fallen by 20.63%, and petty thefts, which have reduced by 18.31% in the same period.
The new director general of the Catalan police, Ferran López, also participated in the presentation. Parlon confirmed that the Pla Bastió will continue to be implemented to consolidate its effects in the city after the spike in crime recorded the previous year.
"The city has a commitment and things are changing"
This was the assessment made by the mayor, David Quirós, who thanked the minister for her involvement with L'Hospitalet and urged the city council to maintain collaboration to preserve these figures.
When comparing the total number of crimes in the first eight months of the year, 2025 recorded 22,759 compared to 21,096 in 2026, which represents a 7.31% decrease. The decline rises to 13.5% if only conventional crimes are considered, excluding, for example, cybercrimes.
The Mossos d'Esquadra's operation began in April 2026 and its continuation will be maintained in the coming months, as confirmed by both administrations.
