The PP formally requests the president of the Generalitat and the mayor of Barcelona to clear the camp at Plaça de Catalunya. If they do not act, Daniel Sirera warns he will go to court.

During a press conference in Nou Barris, Daniel Sirera announced that on Monday he will formally request the clearing of the camp set up at Plaça de Catalunya. The president of the Municipal Group of the PP in the Barcelona City Council directs this demand to Salvador Illa, president of the Generalitat, and Jaume Collboni, the city's mayor.

He was accompanied by Xavier Garcia Albiol, mayor of Badalona and congressional candidate, and Elías Bendodo, national deputy secretary of the PP. Also present was Juanma Moreno, president of the Junta de Andalucía. Sirera accused the socialist governments of leaving Barcelona with more crime, occupation, and degradation.

“In Barcelona, more than 400 crimes and over four sexual assaults occur every day. Additionally, each year we find more than 70,000 syringes in our squares and parks.”

According to the popular leader, the Barcelona City Council tolerates the illegal occupation of 36 municipal properties. Sirera cited Garcia Albiol's management in Badalona as an example, describing him as a mayor who solves residents' problems.

Regarding Plaça de Catalunya, Sirera described it as an “absolutely degraded” space. He denounced that the campers are violating regulations and municipal ordinances, and that they have vandalised monuments and statues in the square, one of the most central in the city.

The leader reminded that the Generalitat has the authority to act and urged the administrations to exercise it. If the written request receives no response, the PP will go to court to enforce the municipal ordinance. Residents and visitors to the centre will remain attentive on Monday when the party presents the claim.
