The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 31-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman for assaulting the mayor of Sant Pere de Torelló, Jordi Fàbrega. The attack occurred after they requested municipal housing.

The Police of the Generalitat has arrested two individuals after attacking the mayor of Sant Pere de Torelló, Jordi Fàbrega, while he was walking down the street. The arrested, a 31-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, do not reside in the municipality.

The events took place around 19:00 on Thursday, October 22, in this town in the Osona region. According to police sources cited by EFE, the couple approached the two local representatives to demand housing.

The mayor explained that the Town Hall had no properties available at that moment. Following this response, according to the same information, they began to insult the officials and ended up assaulting Fàbrega and the second deputy mayor, Josep Vilar. Both suffered minor injuries.

A local resident who witnessed the scene attempted to intervene and was also injured. The local newspaper El 9 Nou added that, prior to the attack, the couple had shouted at neighbours, including minors leaving music class and people heading to church.

Several patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra located the alleged assailants shortly after. According to SER Catalunya, they arrived at the scene in an apparent state of intoxication, and when being transported, they confronted the officers and attempted to attack one of them, but did not succeed.

The investigation attributes possible charges of assaulting an authority, assaulting law enforcement officers, and causing injuries. All three affected individuals filed a complaint with the Mossos. The woman has a record of 17 previous arrests for various offenses, and the man has multiple police records.

Both were brought before a judge on Saturday, October 24. The detainees were transferred to the Vic police station following the intervention.
