Infraestructures.cat has commissioned the drafting of the construction project for €64,660. The work will have an estimated budget of €1,250,000 and a six-month deadline for the technical document.

The company Forest, Gestión Integral de Ingeniería, SL will draft the construction project for the roundabout that will provide access to the Xalets de Salou urbanisation from the Tarragona motorway (C-31b). The contract, awarded by the public company Infraestructures.cat under the Generalitat de Catalunya, amounts to €64,660, as reported by diaridetarragona.com.

The deadline for delivering the technical document is six months. The planned works have an estimated budget of €1,250,000, according to the study order from the Direcció General d’Infraestructures de Mobilitat.

The project is not limited to the design of the roundabout and its lighting. The awarded engineering firm must include a hydraulic study to expand the existing cross drainage works and design retention basins or channels downstream. The aim is to prevent flooding in the area, a recurring problem during heavy rain episodes.

The roundabout is a long-standing demand from the residents of Cap Salou and the Salou City Council. Until now, drivers arriving from Tarragona towards Xalets de Salou or Mirador de Salou have had to make several-kilometre detours to reach plaza de la Sardana or cross La Pineda to get to their homes.

The infrastructure was initially linked to the approval of the Plan Director Urbanístic (PDU) del CRT for the Hard Rock complex. The Salou council demanded that the Departament de Territori process the roundabout urgently and independently. The new access will also serve La Pineda and has the support of the Vila-seca City Council.
