The Minister of Interior, Núria Parlon, rejects that the identifications were made for ethnic reasons. The operation totals ten arrests and 2,264 identifications, and the CUP demands explanations.

The balance of the police operation deployed in Catalonia due to the Blocus calls amounts to 10 arrests and 2,264 identifications. The Minister of Interior and Public Security, Núria Parlon, provided these figures and expressed her concern that some of the identified youths were under 12 years old.

Of the identifications, 1,800 were carried out by the Mossos d'Esquadra and 464 by the Guardia Urbana. Parlon explained in an interview on the El suplement programme on Catalunya Ràdio that, in addition to the three arrests made in Barcelona, there were another seven across Catalonia of youths who committed vandalism linked to Blocus.

The Minister also reported 181 complaints for possession of bladed weapons or harmful objects, such as stones or sprays.

Parlon rejected that the agents acted with racial profiling when choosing whom to identify. According to her words:

“After what happened last week in Barcelona, can anyone sincerely suggest that identifications were made for ethnic reasons?”

The head of Interior explained that the selected profiles corresponded to youths wearing the clothing that appeared in the Blocus messages on messaging apps, such as black clothing and hoodies.

“It was a specific profile, minors and with specific clothing”

The CUP demands explanations from the Department of Interior for what it considers
