Four agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra revived a 70-year-old man on October 10 who suffered a cardiac arrest while playing football in Alhambra park. He is currently hospitalized but out of danger.

A 70-year-old man collapsed during a football match on October 10 at around 5 PM. A patrol from the Mossos d'Esquadra stationed at the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat police station was driving along Alhambra street when several people alerted them, very agitated, that someone had fainted on the pitch at Alhambra park.

The individual was José Daniel, who had suffered a cardiac arrest. He had no pulse or breathing. The agents called for an ambulance but did not wait: officer Joan immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), thanks to his first aid training and medical experience.

Meanwhile, Arnau Marina and Julián, along with the rest of the four agents, attended to the victim's family, his son and daughter-in-law, whom they took to a secluded area to provide psychological support. They also gathered information about the injured man and opened a lane for ambulances to reach the park without obstruction.

When the paramedics arrived, they applied several shocks with an automated external defibrillator until the vital signs were restored. The man was then transported to Bellvitge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for the cardiac condition he was suffering from. According to available information, he is now out of danger, although he remains hospitalized.

The day after the intervention, the officers spoke with the family, who thanked them and informed them that the patient was stable. On Wednesday, the police visited him in the hospital, and José Daniel told them that he owes them his life. Joan, the officer who performed CPR, had gone through a similar ordeal a year ago when he underwent surgery for a heart condition.

According to the information gathered, José Daniel will not be able to play football again. If anyone witnesses a similar situation in a public space, the emergency number is 112, and the initial CPR maneuvers can make a difference until the ambulance arrives.
