Three arrested and two investigated after a knife fight on Meridiana Avenue, in Sant Andreu. It occurred on Sunday, October 18, and no injuries were reported.
A fight between eight and ten people with knives and other bladed weapons disrupted the afternoon of October 18 around Meridiana Avenue and Fabra i Puig promenade in the Sant Andreu district. After 4:30 PM, the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Barcelona Urban Guard received the alert about the confrontation.
According to images accessed by this outlet, those involved ran, shouted, and attempted to attack each other near the Fabra i Puig bus station, even chasing each other across the roadway. Vehicles passing through the area were exposed to an evident risk, although, according to police sources, no one was injured.
The patrols of the Urban Guard and the Mossos, along with members of the Operational Resources Area (ARRO) of the Catalan police, ended the altercation and separated the parties. The agents seized a kitchen knife and a screwdriver.
The agents halted the conflict, separated the opposing parties, and identified those involved.
Of those involved, the Mossos arrested three people: two young men aged 20 and 25 and a man aged 41. Another two individuals were investigated.
Initially, some locals pointed to a confrontation between Latin gangs. However, according to police sources, the fight does not seem to be related to disputes between these groups and is linked to the football environment, specifically to the rivalry between fans of two Colombian clubs. The investigation remains open to clarify all details.
For the residents of Sant Andreu, the episode occurred at one of the busiest transport points in the area. The Fabra i Puig bus station and Meridiana serve a large number of travelers daily, so any incident in the vicinity usually affects the mobility of the neighborhood.
