Three Suspects Arrested in Terrassa for Shooting that Injured Two Civil Guards

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested three individuals in an occupied warehouse in Terrassa for the shooting that injured two civil guards in plain clothes last night. One of the officers is in serious condition with gunshot wounds to the abdomen, leg, and arm; the other is out of danger.

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three suspected thieves early this morning in Terrassa after they shot at two civil guards in plain clothes who were investigating them. The events occurred on Calle Europa, in the Can Parellada neighbourhood, according to police sources.

The two Guardia Civil officers were injured but are out of danger. One of them remains hospitalized in serious condition after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen, leg, and arm. The other officer suffered less serious injuries.

The civil guards were following a group of teloneros, as thieves who operate on highways are known, when the suspects discovered them. A chase ensued, culminating in an armed confrontation on the aforementioned street. There, the criminals opened fire on the officers, who identified themselves as police, and even struck one of the victims with sticks while he was already lying on the ground.

After the shots were fired, the Mossos launched an investigation that led to the identification of the assailants around 23:00 hours in an occupied warehouse. Riot police cordoned off the area, and the GEI, the elite group of the Catalan police, was activated. They entered the premises early this morning and arrested three individuals. One of them is accused of being the material author of the shots, according to the same sources.

The investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out. The events have caused shock in the Can Parellada neighbourhood, where residents experienced the police deployment with unease last night.
