This incident marks the third stabbing incident in less than 24 hours in the city of Barcelona. The first occurred on Friday October 2, at quarter past six in the evening, in the Bordeta neighbourhood, in the Sants district. Two men living in a homeless encampment in Can Batlló park began to argue, and one of them stabbed the other.
The second incident also took place this Saturday in the Sant Andreu neighbourhood. A fight between two neighbours on Santa Coloma promenade, near Meridiana avenue, ended with one of them stabbed and sent to hospital in mild condition. The Mossos arrested the alleged perpetrator, a 22-year-old man whose nationality and criminal record have not been disclosed.
With these three cases, the week has seen a total of five stabbing incidents in Barcelona. The first was on Monday September 28 at the Casa Fuster hotel, in the Gràcia district, where a man was seriously injured after being beaten and stabbed in the neck. The second was a fight among people of Maghreb origin in the Raval neighbourhood, and the others occurred between Friday and Saturday on Meridiana avenue, in Sant Andreu and in Bordeta.
Residents of Sant Andreu and Bordeta have witnessed two violent episodes concentrated in their streets within a few hours. The police are continuing their investigations to clarify the events and determine if there is any connection between those involved.
