Renfe has suspended service on sections of R1, R2Nord, R3, R4, R7, R8, and R11 following the weekend storm. The operator expects to restore normal service throughout Monday as incidents are resolved.
The Rodalies and Regionals network in Catalonia faces the start of the week with at least six lines affected by the weekend's rain. Renfe communicated the situation at 23:15 hours on Sunday: the R1, R2Nord, R3, R4, R7, R8, and R11 will start with sections cut off and alternative bus services, as reported by elperiodico.com.
The operator states that some of these sections will resume service as the day progresses on Monday. The storm has left the Sant Adrià de Besòs bridge submerged due to rising river levels, preventing trains from passing towards Barcelona.
The Maresme line, R1, will not operate between Arenys de Mar and Maçanet-Massanes; this section will be covered by coaches. Service will only run between Arenys and Badalona. From Badalona, users can reach central Barcelona via the L2 Metro.
The R2Nord is interrupted between Granollers and Sant Celoni, with alternative bus service. The R11 will not run and will only operate with buses between Maçanet-Massanes and Portbou.
The R3 adds to its usual cut between L'Hospitalet and La Garriga a new interruption between Ripoll and Puigcerdà, covered by buses. Trains will only run between La Garriga and Ripoll.
The R4 will only operate between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Sants station. There will be a bus service between Terrassa and Manresa. For the rest of the line, between Sants and Terrassa, Renfe redirects travellers to line buses and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), which is operating normally.
The R7 (Montcada Bifurcació-UAB) and R8 (Martorell-Granollers) lines will be completely interrupted and will have alternative bus service throughout their routes.
In contrast, the R2Sud, R2, southern regionals of Catalonia (R15, R16, R17), and Rodalies of Tarragona (RT1 and RT2) will operate normally.
Renfe recommends checking the website and apps before travelling and expects to provide further updates throughout Monday.
