Catalonia received €2.154.5 million in public awards between July and September, accounting for 21% of the national total. Only Madrid exceeded this figure across Spain.

With 4,977 awards and €2,154.5 million, Catalonia ranks second in public contracting during the third quarter of 2026, only behind Madrid. This data comes from a study by Informa D&B conducted with Avaldata, which empresaactual.com has reported, placing the region at 21% of the amount awarded nationwide.

The analysis covers awards made between 1 July and 30 September: 30,844 contracts for a total of €10,140 million, distributed among 11,909 companies. The average per contract in Catalonia reaches €432,900, compared to €493,700 in Madrid, where 8,404 awards were signed for €4,149 million, accounting for 41% of the total.

Together, both regions account for 62% of the amount, although they only represent 43% of the contracts. Nacho Pérez-Muñoz, general director of DAIL Software, summarises it this way:

“Companies from three regions, Madrid, Catalonia, and Andalusia, concentrate nearly three-quarters of the capital allocated in public awards for the third quarter of the year.”

Following Catalonia are Andalusia, with €1,063.5 million (10.5%), Galicia, with €640 million (6%), and the Valencian Community, with €503 million (5%). In the construction sector, works accumulate €3,300 million, 32.5% of the national amount, and lead in 16 of the 19 autonomous communities.

Large companies captured 68.5% of the amount, around €6,941 million, while SMEs retained 31.5%. More than half of the contracts, 53%, went to companies with revenues below €5 million, with an average of €121,600 per award.

In the ranking of awardees, Atende Servicios Integrados tops the list with €239.6 million (2.36% of the total), followed by Serveo Social, with €210.4 million, and Estacionamientos y Servicios, with €163.2 million. Among the top fifteen, there are three Catalan companies, while eight are based in Madrid. The complete report, in infographic format, can be consulted on the Informa D&B website.
