The mayor of Badalona and PP candidate for the 29N finds it outrageous that TVE is delaying the Catalan candidates' debate scheduled for this Monday. He claims the channel decides based on the electoral interests of the PSOE.

The public broadcaster TVE has suspended the debate of Catalan candidates that was initially scheduled for this Monday, and the decision has provoked a strong reaction from the PP. As reported by The Objective, the mayor of Badalona and popular candidate for the 29N elections has criticised the postponement in a video published on Sunday on the social network X.

Xavier García Albiol considers the suspension a disgrace and accuses the public television of serving the PSOE. In his opinion, the channel makes its decisions based on the electoral interests of the socialists.

The reason given by TVE for the change is the mourning for the train accident in Toledo. However, the PP candidate reminds that the mourning ended on Saturday at 23.59 and that Monday is not a day of mourning.

“It is evident, they do not want to debate in the current context of concern that exists in Catalan society and Spanish society.”

Albiol argues that the channel intends for the sense of concern to fade over the days, which is why it has postponed the meeting. For the popular leader, the manoeuvre responds to the PSOE expecting a more favourable climate on another date.

The candidate announces that he will not accept to participate in a debate if it is moved to another date on TVE. He assures that the PP will attend debates organised in other forums, although he does not specify which ones.
