Firefighters from the Generalitat have responded to 19 reports between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM this Monday, and 106 since 7:00 AM. Most relate to fallen trees and vehicles blocked by water.

According to infobae.com, the Firefighters of the Generalitat have accumulated 106 reports related to rain in Catalonia since 7:00 AM. Only between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Monday, 19 interventions were recorded.

The majority of those evening reports were concentrated in the Northern Metropolitan Region, with seven. The Lleida Region and the Southern Metropolitan Region each had four, while the Tarragona Region recorded two and the Central and Girona Regions had one each.

In most cases, firefighters responded to fallen trees, vehicles trapped by water, and some partial landslides. There were no injuries. Additionally, numerous rockfalls were reported on the roads, especially in the Lleida area, with eleven reports.

At 11:00 PM, Civil Protection reported that the Gaià River had exceeded the alert threshold at the Vilabella station (Tarragona), with a flow of 5.66 cubic meters per second. The agency urges residents not to approach the riverbed or cross fords or flood-prone areas.

“The episode has evolved without significant impacts,” according to the Civil Protection statement.

The same agency will keep the Special Emergency Plan for Floods in Catalonia (INUNCAT) active throughout the early hours of Tuesday in alert phase. It will also monitor precipitation and coordinate its actions with the hydrographic confederations, municipalities, and operational bodies.

The head of Prediction at the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, Santi Segalà, indicated that starting Tuesday morning, the week will be, in his words:

“More tranquil in terms of precipitation.”

However, the warning for the possibility of locally exceeding 40 litres per square meter in 30 minutes remains in effect during the early hours of Tuesday, with a maximum danger level of four out of six on the coast and pre-coastal areas. The warning for more than 60 litres per square meter in three hours on the coast and pre-coastal areas, and for more than 100 litres in 24 hours in the central and eastern Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees regions is also still in place.

The highest recorded amounts on Monday were in Falset (Tarragona), with 66.9 litres per square meter, followed by Tivissa, with 64.4, and Torroja del Priorat, with 55.4. The Siruana reservoir collected 53.4 and Las Casas de Alcanar, 51.2.

For residents in the coastal and southern Tarragona regions, the practical recommendation is to avoid riverbeds and fords during the early hours of Tuesday, when warnings remain active.
