The seventh gala of the Panellet d'Or 2026 awarded the best panellets in Catalonia among 61 participants. The Oriol Carrió bakery from Barcelona won the first prize.
According to La Razón, the seventh gala of the Panellet d'Or 2026 awards took place in October at the Institut de Gastronomia de Barcelona (IGB). The aim was to distinguish the best panellets in Catalonia among 61 participants.
The jury assessed the presentation, the quality of the pine nuts, the texture of the marzipan, the flavour, and the structure of the sweet when tasting it. The Oriol Carrió bakery from Barcelona won the first prize.
Forn Can Bertran from Badalona received the Silver Panellet. The Bronze Panellet went to Forn Vallespir, also from Barcelona.
Panellets are marzipan sweets made with sugar, egg yolk, and almond flour. They are the star sweet of the All Saints celebration, which takes place between October 31 and November 1, alongside chestnuts and sweet potatoes.
The most traditional flavours are pine nut and almond, although there are also versions with coffee, shredded coconut, or quince. Bakers innovate each year with new combinations, and the sweet is also consumed in Aragon, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands.
The award winners are part of the VII Ruta dels Millors Panellets de Catalunya, which includes 33 establishments. For those who want to try the seasonal panellets, the route allows for comparison of each workshop's offerings before November 1.
