Former president Carles Puigdemont refused to greet Culture Minister Sònia Hernàndez after Maria del Mar Bonet's concert at the Olympia in Paris. The event brought together Catalan politicians from PSC and Junts.

The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont did not respond to Culture Minister Sònia Hernàndez, who approached his group after the concert of Maria del Mar Bonet at the Olympia theatre in Paris, held on October 11. According to El Confidencial, the scene was the most talked-about of a night where politicians from PSC and Junts coincided.

In the audience were also the former president of the Parliament Laura Borràs, the former leader of Òmnium Jordi Cuixart, who lives in Switzerland, the director of the Institut Ramon Llull, Anna Guitart, and the Spanish ambassador to Unesco, Miquel Iceta. Borràs requested four tickets days before, according to sources close to the Catalan Administration, despite the fact that the concert was organised and paid for by the Institut Ramon Llull with public money. Each ticket cost 18 euros.

Sources present at the event explained that Hernàndez approached Puigdemont's entourage after the concert to speak with him, but received no response. The Generalitat was seeking rapprochement, while Junts maintains distance from the Govern and the PSC, which continues to extend a hand to Puigdemont.

At the concert, there were only a couple of shouts of “¡Independencia!”. Bonet dedicated the song Què volen aquesta gent to the exiled and persecuted, within the repertoire she has been performing for months, and not to Puigdemont as had circulated.

The disagreement has a precedent in the Parliament. During the General Policy Debate, Salvador Illa extended a hand to Junts and the group rejected it. This week, former councillor Lluís Puig spoke before the plenary for seven minutes, after returning amnestied from Brussels, and neither Illa nor a large part of the Govern were present.

The president of the Junts group, Mònica Sales, sent a letter of protest to Illa regarding that absence. In the letter, she recalled the role of the socialist leader in the application of article 155:

I am aware that you defended and enthusiastically endorsed the application of article 155, which resulted in the dismissal of the legitimate Government of Catalunya
