The Valencian Generalitat lifts the confinement in place in eight municipalities on the southern coast of Valencia and northern Alicante. On Monday, over a thousand rescues were carried out and the UME is no longer deployed.
According to navarratelevision.es, the Valencian Generalitat has declared the confinement in eight municipalities of the Comunitat due to the Adam storm to be over. The measure affected Bellreguard, Piles, Miramar, Oliva, and Daimús on the southern coast of Valencia, and Xàbia, Pego, and Els Poblets on the northern coast of Alicante.
The decision comes after more than one thousand rescues were carried out on Monday, both aerial and terrestrial. The Emergency Minister, Juan Carlos Valderrama, announced this after the latest meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Centre (Cecopi).
The maritime storm has changed from waves of 4 metres to swells of 50 or 60 centimetres, and this improvement explains the change in scenario. Therefore, the Military Emergency Unit (UME) is demobilised and the Comunitat moves to situation 1 of emergencies, which maintains vigilance in the regions of La Safor and Marina Alta.
“The third most intense rainfall” in the recent history of the Comunitat Valenciana, with over 700 litres per square metre accumulated during the episode.
For those who cannot yet return to their homes, Cruz Roja maintains two shelters, one in Xàbia and another in Oliva. The regional government has not specified how long they will remain open.
The 112 has managed a total of 1,713 incidents related to the storm: 1,202 in the province of Valencia, 492 in Alicante, and 19 in Castellón. According to Valderrama, no more calls are coming in from people trapped on roofs or in risky areas.
Nevertheless, the minister has urged caution. An aerial device will be prepared on Tuesday if necessary, and a team of drones will operate during the night. The Hydrographic Confederations have reported that river flows are gradually decreasing, although some municipalities in the maritime area still cannot drain into the sea.
From 21:00 to 03:00, an orange alert remains active on the southern coast of the province of Alicante. Rainfall of 40 litres per square metre in one hour and around 80 litres in twelve hours is expected, so residents in that area should monitor the evolution of the precipitation.
