Santa Coloma's local police, with Endesa's help, have intensified inspections to combat illegal electrical connections that pose fire hazards. Four businesses were checked, revealing serious safety issues.

In a proactive move to enhance public safety, the local police of Santa Coloma de Gramenet have launched a series of inspections targeting illegal electrical connections in commercial establishments. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with technicians from Endesa, aims to identify potential fire hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

During a recent operation involving four different businesses, significant findings were reported. In two locations, inspectors discovered faulty wiring that posed an immediate risk of fire. Technicians from Endesa promptly intervened to carry out necessary repairs, effectively mitigating the danger.

Another establishment had its electricity supply cut off months prior due to safety violations. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the repairs made met all required safety standards. This highlights the importance of regular checks and compliance with electrical regulations.

However, not all inspections yielded positive results. In one business, authorities uncovered an illegal connection to the electrical grid. The police acted swiftly by cutting off the power supply and temporarily closing the establishment. Furthermore, they initiated legal proceedings for suspected electricity fraud against the owner.

This crackdown is part of a broader strategy by local law enforcement to work closely with utility companies like Endesa. Their goal is not only to prevent potential fires but also to protect residents from unsafe practices that could lead to serious accidents or injuries.

The issue of illegal electrical connections is not new; similar operations have been conducted across various regions in Spain over the past decade as authorities strive for safer communities. For instance, in 2019 alone, over 1,500 inspections led to numerous closures and fines across Catalonia.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to electrical installations in their neighborhoods. By doing so, they can contribute significantly to community safety efforts and help prevent future incidents.

The next round of inspections is expected soon as part of ongoing efforts by Santa Coloma’s local police and Endesa technicians. Business owners are advised to ensure their installations comply with current regulations or face potential legal repercussions.
