The operation, valued at 16 million euros, began in July after locating a van with 2,400 kilos in Viladecans. The seven detainees were brought before the Figueres court.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have seized 8,025 kilos of hashish in an industrial warehouse in Cabanes (Girona) and have arrested seven men aged between 29 and 55 years as suspected members of a drug trafficking network. The drugs were valued at 16 million euros.
The investigation began in July, when agents located a van in Viladecans (Barcelona) transporting 2,400 kilos of hashish. Investigators determined that the goods originated from a warehouse in Cabanes, which was subsequently placed under surveillance.
Agents observed that vehicles and people were entering and leaving the warehouse despite it not appearing to have any industrial activity. On October 1, they noted the arrival of a large articulated truck and the movement of vans with changing license plates.
Upon entering, the Mossos found seven people unloading pallets from the truck and loading them onto vans, supposedly for distribution. Among the cargo, bags of rubber crumb used to hinder drug detection, the 8,025 kilos of hashish were discovered.
In one of the vans where the drugs were being loaded, agents found a firearm. The detainees were brought before the Figueres (Girona) court.
The operation was carried out by the drug unit of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona). According to the Mossos, it is one of the most significant actions against drug trafficking by the force: the eight tonnes seized represent more than half of the 14.9 tonnes confiscated since the beginning of the year.
