A new blow to repeat offenders in Barcelona

In an ambitious police operation that took place between the afternoon and evening of May 29, security forces managed to arrest a total of one hundred people in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. This action is part of the initiative known as Pla Kanpai, designed to combat repeat offending and improve public safety.

During this day, in addition to the arrests, more than 2,000 individuals were identified, reflecting the scope and effectiveness of the operation. Authorities also filed 110 complaints for various crimes, including possession of narcotics and bladed weapons. In total, 263 administrative complaints related to public transport were raised, highlighting a comprehensive approach to security.

The arrests covered a variety of crimes. In particular, there were recorded cases of violent thefts and petty thefts, as well as violations related to public health and irregular administrative situations under the Immigration Law. In total, the detainees had accumulated more than 635 criminal records, demonstrating the repeat offender profile of many involved.

Regionally, the data is equally revealing. In the Metropolitan Police Region of Barcelona, 45 arrests were made, while in other areas such as L'Hospitalet and Cornellà, an additional 11 arrests were recorded. The Metropolitan Police Region North also contributed to the operation with 32 arrests distributed between Badalona and Santa Coloma de Gramanet.

This type of operation not only seeks to dismantle existing criminal networks but also to send a clear message about the ongoing commitment from authorities to maintain public order. With more controls scheduled in the near future, these actions are expected to deter potential offenders.

As police forces continue their work in this direction, it is clear that the joint efforts between the Mossos d'Esquadra, National Police, and local bodies are yielding significant results. The community can expect a greater police presence and proactive measures to ensure their safety.
