The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested 14 young people for their alleged connection to the disturbances and looting that occurred on October 21 in Manresa, following a student protest. On the same day, the Catalan police and the Guardia Urbana de Manresa had already arrested eight people.
As the investigation progressed, officers identified another eight minors linked to the incidents. Six of them were arrested on November 2 and 3, while the other two cannot be charged due to their age.
According to the statement from the Mossos, during the protest, there was damage to public buildings, stones were thrown at officers and police vehicles, and violent robberies occurred. Investigators attribute the latter to a group of minors, who also assaulted other young people participating in the mobilization.
Later in the afternoon, after the protest had ended, a group continued to disrupt public order. They set fire to bins, damaged urban furniture, made graffiti, and broke windows in several establishments.
The profile of those arrested is as follows: 13 minors aged between 14 and 17 years and one young person aged 19 years, comprising 11 boys and three girls. All those arrested for public disorder and assault against officers are boys. One of them was re-arrested on Saturday, October 24, during the disturbances in Barcelona.
The three girls were arrested for their alleged involvement in violent robbery and assault. The investigation has also linked two minors aged between 11 and 13 years to these same crimes, although they cannot be charged due to their age.
The case remains open, and the Mossos do not rule out further arrests. The damage to urban furniture and local businesses is still under investigation.
