Preparations underway for the papal visit
The city of Barcelona is in full swing just one day before the anticipated arrival of Pope Leo XIV. Preparations have reached their peak, with a logistical deployment that includes the installation of barriers, no parking signs, and the setup of stages at various key points in the Catalan capital.
One of the most affected locations by this work is the iconic Sagrada Família temple, where the Pope will hold a special ceremony. From the early hours of the day, workers have been placing large screens and chairs for guests, while the surrounding streets are being prepared to welcome thousands of faithful who will gather to witness the event.
The restrictions not only affect the area around the temple. In the vicinity of the Catedral and the Episcopal Palace, where the Supreme Pontiff will be staying, traffic and parking limitations have already been implemented. These measures will be in effect until 10:00 on Thursday, June 11, also affecting motorcycles and bicycles.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Pope will celebrate a prayer vigil at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, another focal point where a large influx of people is expected. From this morning until 02:00 on Wednesday, June 10, parking is prohibited on several roads near the stadium, including the Olympic promenade and other adjacent avenues.
