Barcelona's €10 vouchers for spending in local commerce exceed 3,000 registrations in the first hour. There are already a thousand participating shops, and the council expects to reach 60,000 people.

The Bonus Consum of Barcelona has launched with more than 3,000 people registered in the first hour it was available. This was confirmed by the president of Barcelona Comerç, Pròsper Puig, at the end of a meeting between merchants and representatives of the Barcelona City Council.

The campaign consists of digital vouchers of €10 distributed by the council, which can be spent in local shops in the city as long as the purchase is €30 or more.

“It has really been a success that we expected,” Puig noted.

The representative of the merchants added that there are already around 1,000 shops registered in this municipal initiative, agreed with the sector as part of the European Capital of Local Commerce that Barcelona holds during 2026.

Puig defended the format: “It is one of the best campaigns that can be done because on one hand it encourages spending in local commerce” and “it can help families reach the end of the month in a more relaxed way.”

The Barcelona City Council is allocating €4 million to this edition and estimates an impact of €12 million on the local commerce of the city.

The vouchers are primarily aimed at food and non-food establishments and everyday services: greengrocers, butcher shops, fishmongers, bakeries and pastry shops, textiles, footwear, leather goods, pharmacies, drugstores, perfumeries, paints, decorations, herbal shops, hardware stores, appliances, music, collectibles, jewellery, bookstores, florists, toy shops, sports equipment, hairdressers, kiosks, ice cream shops, photography, and veterinary services.

To participate, businesses must have their establishment in Barcelona and their headquarters in Catalonia, invoice less than €50 million per year, not exceed 800 square meters of surface area, and have a maximum of 250 employees. As a novelty, this edition includes more than 40 municipal markets spread throughout the city.

On the buyer's side, they must be an individual, of legal age, and a resident of Barcelona. The council has organised participation in phases to prevent any single person from monopolising vouchers and has set a limit of three per person throughout the campaign. The municipal forecast is to reach more than 60,000 people.

Interested parties can consult the rules and the list of participating establishments on the channels set up by the Barcelona City Council for the campaign.
