Police operation in Santa Coloma
In a recent operation, the Mossos d’Esquadra managed to dismantle a network dedicated to the trafficking of synthetic drugs in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, resulting in the arrest of three individuals, two women and one man, aged between 47 and 58 years. The intervention took place on June 6 and was carried out following several citizen alerts about suspicious activities in the area.
The first arrest occurred around 00:45 hours when a patrol noticed a woman behaving erratically on Rellotge Street. When they approached to assess her condition, the woman threw away a bag containing 303 grams of what is presumed to be MDMA, along with three mobile phones. This discovery led to her immediate arrest.
Throughout the day, the officers received a report about a possible fight at a nearby residence. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a visibly nervous man and woman attempting to leave the building. During the search of the woman's bag, an additional 400 grams of MDMA were discovered, along with 1,950 euros in cash and a counterfeit 50 euro note. These items led to their arrest for drug trafficking-related offenses.
The estimated total value of the seized substances amounts to approximately 30,000 euros, highlighting the magnitude of the synthetic drug trafficking problem in this metropolitan area. The detainees were presented before the corresponding court; while one was brought before the judge on June 7, the other two appeared the following day.
This case underscores not only the effectiveness of police work but also the growing concern over the increase in trafficking and consumption of synthetic drugs like MDMA in various Spanish locales. Authorities continue to work to curb this phenomenon affecting both young people and adults.
