Barcelona prepares for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France with a municipal plan

Barcelona is preparing to host the Grand Départ of the Tour with a special municipal plan ensuring safety and logistics.

On 15 June, Barcelona will be the stage for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, an event that will attract thousands of cycling fans. To ensure the safety and success of this celebration, the City Council has organised a working session where the municipal plan specifically designed for the occasion will be explained. This meeting will take place in the Sala Nova de Govern at 10:30 hours.

Details of the municipal plan

The session will feature several senior municipal officials, including Xavier Paton, manager of Economic Promotion and Tourism; Susana Closa, manager of the Barcelona Sports Institute; and Jordi Guerrero, chief superintendent and head of the Urban Guard Coordination Division. Also present will be Lídia Torres, director of Mobility services, and Carlos Vázquez, director of Cleaning services.

This multidisciplinary team aims to ensure that all logistical aspects, from mobility to cleaning, are coordinated to properly welcome visitors. The importance of the event lies not only in its sporting relevance but also in its economic and tourism impact on the city.

Media interested in covering this event must register in advance using a form available until 12 June at 18:00 hours. It is important to note that audio and image recording will not be allowed during the session.

Once this information meeting concludes, the Sports Councillor, David Escudé, will hold a media briefing in the Saló Ciutat. This will be a key opportunity to obtain direct information on how the event will unfold and the expectations the City Council has regarding it.

The Tour de France is one of the most prestigious cycling events in the world, and its arrival in Barcelona represents a significant milestone for both sports enthusiasts and citizens.
