Jaume Collboni has formally presented Barcelona as the host city for the final of the 2030 World Cup. The mayor wants the trophy to be at Camp Nou on July 21, 2030.

The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, has officially presented the candidacy of the City of Counts to host the final of the 2030 World Cup. The announcement was made at the Barcelona City Hall during the inauguration of the exhibition 'Kings of the World', which commemorates the victory of the Spanish national team in the 2026 World Cup.

“We would like the 21st of July 2030, the day the final will be held, to see this trophy at Camp Nou, lifted by the captain of the Spanish team.”

Collboni described the idea as “our dream” and assured that the city council is working “intensely” to make it a reality. According to the mayor, the event should serve for the enjoyment of all fans, and he thanked the president of the federation for the opportunity to host the exhibition and present the proposal.

The candidacy has the support of the Government of Catalonia. According to reports, the councillor responsible for the area also defended the proposal to Rafael Louzán, conveying that Catalonia is ready to host an event of this magnitude.

The mayor's main argument is the stadium. Collboni argues that Barcelona will offer “the best football ground in Europe” once the works on the new Camp Nou are completed, a venue that, in his view, makes it an ideal location for the final.
