A New Era for Hockey and Skating in Barcelona

After a prolonged closure that lasted more than two years, the FC Barcelona Ice Rink has officially reopened. This Wednesday marks an important milestone for ice hockey and figure skating enthusiasts in the city, who can once again enjoy these disciplines in a renovated space. The rink, which had been closed since May 2022 due to the ambitious Espai Barça project, is now located in a pavilion provided by the Universitat de Barcelona, specifically at Carles Ferrer i Salat street, 7.

The new facility not only meets the regulatory dimensions of 30 by 60 metres, but also features stands for spectators. Barça aims to restore all activities that were in place before the closure, including training and matches for both its ice hockey team and figure skating activities. Additionally, a school dedicated to learning how to skate will be established.

The Ice Rink will not only be for professional teams; it will also open its doors to the general public. Rental options will be available for entities and individuals interested in using the space. With operational hours from 7:00 to 23:50, the rink will be available almost every day of the year, closing only on Christmas Day.

This reopening is particularly significant as there was no similar alternative in Barcelona before the closure, following the shutdown of the Skating rink located on Roger de Flor street due to the pandemic. With this reopening, the Barcelona rink becomes the third facility open in Catalonia, joining the existing ones in Puigcerdà and Vielha. This is great news not only for local athletes but also for all those who enjoy ice skating.

Aside from the sporting impact, this reopening also represents a significant economic opportunity for FC Barcelona. The proper marketing and management of the space will reactivate an important source of income that had been inactive during its closure. With this strategic move, the club aims to strengthen its financial position while providing entertainment to its supporters.
