An event that highlights the essence of Viladecans
Next weekend, on the 16th and 17th of May, Viladecans will become the epicentre of agriculture and local trade with the celebration of the 55th edition of the Sant Isidre fair. This event, which has evolved over the years, promises to be a vibrant showcase for agricultural traditions and community engagement in the Baix Llobregat region.
This year, a notable participation is expected with 61 stands showcasing local products and promoting various community initiatives. The fair will not only focus on agriculture but will also offer a wide range of interactive activities. Attendees will be able to enjoy tastings led by local restaurateurs, who will showcase the best of fresh and locally sourced products.
A significant new feature will be the expansion of the gastronomic space, which can now accommodate up to 202 people. This expansion reflects a growing trend towards culinary enjoyment at popular fairs, where visitors can taste local delights while supporting regional producers.
The traditional basket competition will also take place, featuring some of the best artisanal creations in vegetables and fruits. This competition is one of the few still held in Catalunya, thus highlighting the cultural importance of the event. Additionally, 58 local associations will be present to showcase their work and promote social cohesion among citizens.
Approximately 95% of the participating businesses will be local, covering sectors such as food, fashion, and engineering. The institutional stand will also play a crucial role in presenting future projects for Viladecans and informing about notable events such as the Tour de France passing through the city.
As this iconic fair progresses, there will also be a competition to choose the new official mascot of the local police. This initiative aims to engage younger attendees and foster a sense of community among all participants.
