Civil Protection has activated the Inuncat plan due to precipitation that may exceed 40 litres per square metre in half an hour. Barcelona activates its municipal plan due to drainage insufficiency.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia forecasts that intense rains will arrive earlier and affect the Catalan coast during the morning of this Thursday, October 1. The most critical time frame is from 8:00 to 14:00 hours, with the possibility of exceeding 40 litres per square metre in 30 minutes on the coast and pre-coast of Barcelona and Tarragona, according to Crónica Global.

In light of this scenario, Civil Protection of the Generalitat keeps the flood plan Inuncat on alert. The institution urges the population to take extreme precautions in areas where the heaviest precipitation is expected.

The episode will not be limited to the coast. By noon, storms will spread across central Catalonia, Lleida, Tarragona, and the Terres de l'Ebre. By the afternoon and into the early morning, activity will concentrate particularly around the Ebro.

The alert for drainage insufficiency in Barcelona responds to the forecast of rains and storms in the city in the coming hours, according to municipal sources.

The Barcelona City Council has activated its Municipal Emergency Action Plan due to the risk of drainage insufficiency in alert phase. The measure aims to anticipate possible water accumulations in critical points of the city.

Among the municipal recommendations are to check roofs, lightning rods, drains, and pipes, as well as disconnect electrical appliances and keep pets indoors. These are guidelines that the council disseminates each time this type of warning is activated.

The situation requires close attention to the meteorological evolution throughout the day. Any change in the intensity or location of the storms may result in new updates to the alerts from emergency services.
