The Catalan Tourist Agency organises a commercial mission in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo with seven companies to attract Brazilian visitors, who spent 500 million in Catalonia in 2025.
The Catalan Tourist Agency (ACT) has organised a commercial mission in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo from September 28 to October 2 to present the Catalan tourist offer to the main influencers in the Brazilian market. According to Hosteltur, the Catalan delegation consists of seven companies: Hotel El Palace Barcelona, Ohla Hotels, Monument Hotel, Across Spain, Warq Tourism, the Joan Miró Foundation, and La Roca Village.
The mission combines meetings with agents and specialised operators, executives from the main tourism companies in the country, content creators, and media. In total, the ACT expects to contact around 240 professionals from the Brazilian tourism sector.
The offer from the participating companies focuses on culture, gastronomy, accommodation, shopping, and personalised experiences. Additionally, the aim is to promote Catalonia beyond Barcelona, which acts as the main gateway, and to showcase destinations such as the Costa Brava, the Costa Daurada, and the Pyrenees, with proposals for culture, enogastronomy, nature, snow, or cycling tourism.
"The seasonal difference with the southern hemisphere offers opportunities to attract visitors during the months of December, January, and February, thus contributing to the de-seasonalisation, deconcentration, and diversification of tourism activity," indicates the ACT.
Regarding air connectivity, LATAM Airlines directly connects São Paulo and Barcelona, reaching seven weekly frequencies at certain times of the year. This connection facilitates the arrival of Brazilian tourists, a growing market for Catalonia.
In 2025, 211,300 tourists from Brazil arrived in Catalonia. The total spending of these visitors increased by 43%, reaching 500 million euros, and the average spending per person grew by 46%, standing at 2,111 euros, according to ACT data.
This action is part of the Catalan Tourist Agency's strategy to diversify source markets and strengthen the international presence of the community. For professionals in the sector in Catalonia, this mission represents an opportunity to directly contact Brazilian operators and attract high-spending clients.
