The Hungarian firm Gestor Real Estate has acquired the Mercedes-Benz component factory in Esparreguera, with **14,750 square metres** of usable space. The operation has been formalised through a long-term lease agreement.
The Hungarian management and investment firm **Gestor Real Estate** has taken over the facility that **Mercedes-Benz** had in **Esparreguera**, in the province of **Barcelona**. This is reported by **elEconomista** based on Hungarian press sources, which place the purchase at a facility of **14,750 square metres** of usable space.
The property belongs to **Montajes y Estampaciones Metálicas (MEM)**, a company established in **2007** and jointly owned fifty percent by Mercedes and the **Grupo Estampaciones Sabadell**. This joint venture manufactures the chassis for the **Class V** and **Vito** vans of the German brand.
According to the same information, the operation has been closed with a **long-term** lease agreement, which provides stability for the continuity of industrial activity. The financing is provided by **CaixaBank**, which has not disclosed further details. For its part, **Gestor** has not responded to the questions raised.
The last component plant that Mercedes fully controlled in Barcelona was located in the **Bon Pastor** neighbourhood and closed in **2007**. That former industrial space is now undergoing urban transformation to become a sustainable neighbourhood with housing, green areas, and offices.
The main factory of the brand in Spain remains the one in **Vitoria**, in the Basque Country, which occupies a plot of **870,000 square metres** and employs around **5,000 people**. In **Bilbao**, Gestor previously had another facility of about **5,000 square metres** leased to a supplier of the **Volkswagen Group**, although it no longer forms part of its portfolio.
The company, which has been active for over **15 years**, is now focusing its strategy on the Iberian market and manages industrial, logistics, commercial, and hotel assets. A few months ago, it acquired the **Spa Aqquaria** holiday apartment complex in **Salou** (Tarragona) and a block of tourist apartments in the historic centre of **Porto**.
