The second vice president and conseller of the Presidency, José Díaz, asserts that Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca's attendance at the World Cup final was private and without public expense, but the PSPV demands documentation and warns of possible criminal relevance.

The controversy surrounding the attendance of the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, at the final of the World Cup in which Spain was crowned champion continues to unfold in the political arena. The information, revealed by elDiario.es, shows that the Generalitat insists there is no written invitation from the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) because the head of the Consell attended as a private individual.

The PSPV had requested a series of documents, including the full copy of the invitation letter from the RFEF to the president and a companion for the final held on July 19, 2026 at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, in the metropolitan area of New York. They also demanded all communications between the Federation and the Presidency, as well as a detailed breakdown of travel expenses, accommodation, meals, transfers, allowances, and communications, along with the invoices and the necessary authorization for an international trip by senior officials.

In the response accessed by elDiario.es, the second vice president and conseller of the Presidency, José Díaz, refers to previous answers in which he stated that attendance at the event "had a private character and, therefore, there is no record of any management or expense in the organization of the institutional agenda of the Generalitat."

The RFEF has already confirmed that the ticket was an invitation from the body and that the travel expenses were borne by the regional president. According to consulted sources, the leader requested to purchase a ticket "in a personal capacity," the Federation considered inviting him, and he insisted on paying for his seat, following the usual protocol in such cases.

The explanations do not convince the Valencian socialists. Their spokesperson in the Corts, José Muñoz, stated this Tuesday, October 6, that Díaz's written response "raises more doubts" and is "pure opacity" and "a lie." He questioned whether the tickets arrived to the president by "carrier pigeon" or "if suddenly one day he woke up and found tickets for himself and some companions in his mailbox at the Palau de la Generalitat."

The socialist spokesperson warned that this "could be susceptible to criminal relevance" as it involves "a gift to the president" that "exceeds any economic limit," since those tickets could have cost up to 20,000 dollars, and demanded political explanations.
