Vox will present a proposal to the Mobility Commission of the Barcelona City Council this Tuesday with measures for motorcyclists. The party is calling for a reduction in the circulation tax and for the study of allowing motorcycles to use the hard shoulder of the Ronda de Dalt in case of traffic jams.
The Catalan capital has over 270,000 motorcycles, according to the Barcelona City Council, which accounts for 40% of the motorised vehicles circulating in the city. A municipal report indicates that between 2020 and 2025, Barcelona lost 18,000 cars and gained 20,000 motorcycles.
Vox argues that the municipal mobility policy has sidelined this type of vehicle. The municipal group will defend the proposal in the Mobility Commission, which meets this Tuesday.
"It has been marginalising motorcycles," according to the party.
The text calls on the government of Jaume Collboni to promote the "Barcelona, Motorcycle-Friendly City Plan". Among its measures is the development of a needs map by neighbourhoods and increasing motorcycle parking on the road, while keeping free parking spaces on the street.
In terms of safety, Vox proposes an audit of the road network with a map of black spots from the motorcyclist's perspective. The party also suggests studying the possibility of allowing motorcycles to travel in the right hard shoulder of the Ronda de Dalt and the Ronda Litoral when traffic is congested.
Vox also criticises that motorcycles in Barcelona cannot use the bus-taxi lane, unlike other cities. According to the party, the City Council has been trying for years to remove motorcycles from the sidewalks, and the traffic ordinance, in force since February 2025, prohibits parking them near schools and hospitals.
In fiscal matters, the party calls for a reduction in the circulation tax for motorcycles. To this end, it proposes reducing the coefficient 2, the maximum allowed by state law, to the legal minimum. If the commission accepts the proposal, the municipal government will have to study it, although the initiative does not itself imply an immediate change in motorcyclist fees.
