A violent confrontation in Tordera
In the early hours of Sunday, June 1, the quiet municipality of Tordera, located in the Maresme region, was shaken by a shooting that left a man seriously injured and two individuals arrested. The shots began around four thirty in the morning, prompting several neighbours to alert the local authorities.
The Local Police of Tordera acted quickly upon receiving the reports. Shortly after, they identified a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be related to the shooting. In collaboration with the Mossos d’Esquadra, a chase was initiated that culminated on the C-66 road, near Celrà (Girona), approximately 45 kilometres from the scene of the incident.
The occupants of the vehicle were two men of Maghreb origin, who were arrested after attempting to evade law enforcement. One of them had a gunshot wound and was taken to Trueta Hospital in Girona, where his condition is stable.
The initial investigations point towards a possible robbery between criminal groups, known as ‘vuelco’, where the aim was to steal drugs or money from a clandestine plantation located in a local residence. Such incidents are not new in the region; however, this case has drawn attention due to its violence.
Incriminating evidence found
During the search of the intercepted vehicle, officers found clothing resembling police uniforms and balaclavas. These items reinforce the theory that the detainees attempted to pose as police officers to carry out the robbery.
This incident is not isolated; according to recent reports, this shooting was the third recorded in Catalonia during that weekend. Authorities are working hard to identify if there are more individuals involved and if other vehicles participated in the attack.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have opened a thorough investigation, keeping all lines of inquiry open as they seek to dismantle possible criminal networks operating in the area. The local community remains alarmed by this escalation of violence associated with drug trafficking and expects swift responses from the competent authorities.
